Tumblers Made into Whimsies
Series 5: Dugan Stork and Rushes
by Don Kime

The tumblers were made in two different patterns. One has a lattice pattern around the top and bottom while the other has a beaded pattern around the top and bottom.  I have a whimsey that is made from both patterns.  Also, there is a handled basket and the one I have has the lattice around the top and bottom.

Butler Brothers Catalog show these appearing in the April 1915 through March 1922 advertisements.  Of course, the one we all have, we would like to think were made in 1915.  Most are not the greatest color after being made into a whimsey. The tumblers, however, have pretty good color most of the time.

On the right is a Stork and Rushes Tumbler with Lattice Band shaped into a whimsey basket with an applied handle. The base color of the glass is a light lavender.
